Our Strategies

Why do we need SW Strategies?

The bridge between Primary 6 students to Secondary 1 gets more demanding every year. Many students have difficulties adapting to the additional requirements that the new level has to offer. Most quoted saying that they have never seen the questions before or that they did not understand the questions.

After analyzing school examination papers, we have identified that teaching students a fixed approach to tackle the questions will only make them a B grade students. To stand out among its classmates, students need to be able to adapt to different questions set out in examinations. Hence, we have came up with a strategy to guide students in tackling the questions.

What are SW Strategies?

Internalize: To internalize is to breakdown information so that students will be able to grasp what topic is being tested. All possible variation of the topic will be taught to the students.

Identify: Underlining/Highlighting of essential keywords/phrases so that students understands what the question is asking.

Application: After internalizing the questions, students will be taught on how to utilize concepts and formulas. Sufficient practice of different levels will be provided to students starting from the basics to critical thinking questions.

How does SW implement these strategies?

On top of the skills and techniques taught to students, SW also focuses on student's engagement as well as learning experiences. These are what we have to offer:

Small student to teacher ratio
Students are able to focus better when they have the advantage of having the whole teacher to themselves. They will be better equipped with their personalized lesson plans and teaching strategies to meet their unique needs.

Extra review & homework help
There is only a limited time for teachers in school to review a child’s work. Having a private tutor gives students an opportunity to assess areas which they may be struggling or sometimes, a chance to be ahead of school.

Increase confidence and stronger drive to perform
The role of tutors does not only involve teaching but also, to be their pillar of motivation. Tutors will be able to see and cultivate the potential within them which are easily missed by school teachers if a child is of average intelligence.
